WEST WING ART
A SEPTEMBER DAY
ABOUT
I had gone for a long walk across the fields and stumbled upon a derelict outbuilding constructed of differing wooden panels, where the paint had flaked off on some, exposing the decaying wood and with much of the corrugated roof missing too. It was effident to see that at some point it was a hideout for children, but now forgotten and left to the elements. Looking a little out of place, there was one panel in the corner that had been painted this beautiful sky blue, which had clearly been delegated to act as some sort of bracing between panels.
EVENING BLISS
ABOUT
This was a knock-on effect from my other work, entitled Winter Blues, and I simply love the colours in this. Perfect for a canvas, as the texture highlights the brush strokes, despite this being the result of a digital piece.
WINTER BLUES
ABOUT
We all assign colours to emotions and situations. The title Winter Blues has no association with SAD—sufferers who are affected by shorter daylight hours in the winter, causing lethargy and symptoms of depression—but that of a personal situation. One would think to the contrary with such colours, but feel perhaps that the title had more of an impact than the art itself.
THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT
ABOUT
Originally, this was part of my other work, A September Day, and if you read the 'about' on that piece, you will see the connection. I am glad that I split the drawing up, and I feel they look better separated.
